Strengthening Cultural Exchanges and Cooperation, Zhengzhou once again Stands on the World Stage

The 8th UCLG ASPAC Congress was successfully held by video conference from September 7 to September 9, 2021. Zhengzhou has expanded its international "circle of friends" through this conference, thus laying a solid foundation for practical cooperation with various cities.

On the morning of September 9, as a department representative of Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government, Li Fang, Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and director of the Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television & Tourism, made a keynote speech.

In the keynote speech, it was mentioned that Zhengzhou culture has a long history and a great reputation. It advocates openness, shared benefits, and innovation. With culture as the link, we will actively promote and strengthen cultural exchanges and cooperation between Zhengzhou and member cities, and help Asia and the Pacific achieve steady recovery and sustained prosperity in the post COVID era.

United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) is the largest international organization of cities and local governments in the world. It is known as the "United Nations of local governments". Currently, the organization has more than 1,000 city members and 112 members of national local government associations in more than 140 countries and regions around the world.

The theme of the conference is "From Steady Recovery to Sustained Prosperity in Post COVID Asia and the Pacific". The participants are mainly members of the presidium of the Asia Pacific region, representatives of member units, representatives of relevant international organizations and national government institutions. It covers more than 180 member cities or national local government associations in 22 countries and regions in Asia Pacific region.

In addition, Zhengzhou also made "new friends" at the meeting. Zhengzhou signed a letter of intent to establish sister-city relations or an agreement on friendly exchange city relations with Balykchy and Kathmandu. Zhengzhou People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Federation of Sri Lankan Local Government Authorities, expanding the "circle of friends" of Zhengzhou around the world. It has also laid a foundation for practical cooperation with different cities.
