Culture | The second batch of provincial-level historical and cultural blocks come out! Two spots in Zhengzhou are on the list

On May 12, it’s learned from the provincial government that the "Notice on Publishing the Second Batch of Provincial-level Historical and Cultural Blocks" has been issued recently. It is made clear that ten blocks, including Ersha Historical and Cultural Block and No.3 State-owned Cotton Mill Historical and Cultural Block in Zhengzhou, are approved as the second batch of provincial-level historical and cultural blocks. By now, there are four blocks honored with this title in Zhengzhou.

According to the Notice, in order to better protect and carry forward the provincial outstanding historical and cultural heritage, tap into the connotation and value of historical and cultural resources, as well as inherit and promote the excellent Chinese traditional culture, the provincial government has included 10 blocks such as Ersha Historical and Cultural Block in the list of the second batch of provincial-level historical and cultural blocks.

To be specific, the second batch of provincial-level historical and cultural blocks are as follows: Ersha Historical and Cultural Block and No.3 State-owned Cotton Mill Historical and Cultural Block in Zhengzhou; Jianxi Industrial Heritage Historical and Cultural Block in Luoyang; Qinghua Street Historical and Cultural Block in Bo'ai County; Minzhu Street Historical and Cultural Block and Jiefang Road Historical and Cultural Block in Nanyang; Shoufu Road Historical and Cultural Block in Xin County;  Nanxiaoximenli Street Historical and Cultural Block in Jun County; East Gate Historical and Cultural Block and Xiguan Historical and Cultural Block in Jia County.

According to the requirements, all regions and relevant departments of the province should attach great importance to the protection of historical and cultural blocks, make a coordinated overall plan for both urban development and protection of historical and cultural resources, strengthen the control for traditional paradigms and features in both urban and rural areas, and inspire cultural innovation and creativity. The plan for protecting historical and cultural blocks shall be drawn up and brought into force, and the regulations on protection and management shall be formulated. In addition, it is necessary to identify the list of various protection objects, as well as protection contents, requirements and responsibilities.

It is also learned that in 2018, the Henan Provincial Government announced the list of the first batch of 15 provincial-level historical and cultural blocks, among which County Government Office – Lijie Street Historical and Cultural Block as well as Renyu Street Historical and Cultural Block in Xinmi, were listed.
