Yesterday morning, the Square Dance Contest & the launching ceremony of the Fourth Mass Cultural Art Festival with the theme of “welcoming the 19th National Congress of the CPC” were held at the square of Henan Art Center. Zhang Junfeng, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhengzhou Municipal Committee and Director of the Publicity Department, attended the ceremony.

Zhengzhou Mass Culture Art Festival was organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhengzhou Municipal Committee and Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, Press and Publication, and undertaken by Zhengzhou Cultural Center, Party Committee Offices of all development zones and CPC publicity departments of counties (cities) and districts. It is a large-scale mass cultural activity highlighting the masses and promoting the masses to give full play to their enthusiasm, proactivity and creativity when they participate in the cultural activity. From 2012 to 2016, Zhengzhou successfully held the festival for 3 sessions and more than 1,000 various cultural activities, with performers of nearly 60,000.

At yesterday’s launching ceremony, 1,900 people from all sectors of Zhengzhou dressed up to sing and dance. “Zhengzhou’s melody, Zhengzhou’s movement and Zhengzhou’s color” have manifested that all citizens of Zhengzhou welcome the 19th National Congress of the CPC with the unified, progressive and positive mental attitude and the hot feelings that energy is pooled through culture and they support the party wholeheartedly.

After the launching ceremony, the first activity, Square Dance Contest of the Fourth Mass Culture Art Festival was held. About 20 teams from the city attended the contest. It is reported that after the Square Dance Contest, following activities will be held, such as playlet, short play and Quyi (traditional Chinese art forms) contests, activity of “Penkong (chatting)” culture entering schools, performance of public operas and child plays, recital contest of classic articles and qualification trials of the “Demonstration Educational Project on Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture - Zhengzhou”.
