Zhengzhou Green Expo Garden: Lantern Show to Welcome the Spring Festival on the 23rd Day of the Twelfth Lunar Month

Zhengzhou Green Expo Garden will embrace the lantern show for welcoming the 2020 Spring Festival on the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month, when major colorful themed lantern groups such as dreamy purple lantern corridor, charmingly naive rat-themed lantern, Chinese character “Fu” wall and magnificent “New Look” lantern will celebrate the festival.

This show will run until the 23rd of the first lunar month, 2020, lasting for 31 days. It includes three themes such as “Splendid China”, “Ecological Civilization” and “Traditional Festival”. The first one consists of eight lantern groups themed on “remaining true to our original aspiration and keeping our mission firmly in mind”, “socialist core values”, “the Belt and Road Initiative” and “realizing the Chinese dream”. The second one consists of five lantern groups themed on “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” and “beautiful home”. The third one consists of 25 lantern groups themed on “the Spring Festival atmosphere and homesickness”, “the origin of the year” and “poetic illusion”. There will be a total of 50 lantern groups, together with more than 20 scattered lantern groups. Combining land lantern groups and water-above lantern groups, and taking the square of the north gate as the center, all the groups will be evenly distributed along the landscape road, so as to create a visual feast of the Spring Festival culture.

On both sides of artificial hills at the north gate stand two 10-meter-high and 15-meter-long rat-themed lantern groups, which are made of colorful silk cloth, with fine workmanship. When the lanterns come on at night, the charmingly naive rat model, together with palace lanterns and Chinese knot modeling, gives a new look of the Garden, creating a strong atmosphere of the Spring Festival.
The super large-scale lantern group “New Look”, taking the traditional Chinese “cloisonne” and “bright yellow” as the main colors, integrates many traditional elements such as golden elephant, peony, auspicious cloud and Ruyi, the earth, and the map of China, implying the prosperous undertakings of ancient China with five thousand years of civilization.
The 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month will witness a colorful, dreamy and extremely romantic lantern activity in the Garden, aiming to creating a glorious work of light and shadow.
