Shaolin Temple | Golden Ginkgo Leaves Landscape

In Shaolin Temple,

every hall, every room

and even every tree have their own stories.

Now, let’s enjoy these beautiful pictures

to explore the beauty of Shaolin Temple

at the end of autumn and the beginning of winter.

Millennial ginkgos

All Shaolin Temples surely have ginkgos. Ginkgos’ trunks are tall and leaves, simple but elegant. At the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, golden ginkgo leaves cover every corner of temples, setting off the solemnity and serenity of temples. Golden leaves are integrated with the clothes of monks, creating a peaceful and quiet scene.

There are four ancient ginkgos standing in the front of the Hall of Four Heavenly Kings and along the paved path in the stele forest in Shaolin Temple. The ginkgo in the north is particularly thick and big. With a height of about 25 meters and a girth of 5.6 meters, this tree has a history of over 1,000 years. It is very valuable.

Ginkgos are among the oldest trees in the world. They are not only of high medicinal value but also of ornamental value. Golden ginkgo leaves dance in the wind like golden butterflies and fall on paved paths and steps. Golden ginkgo leaves and monks and ancient temple architectures complement each other, further highlighting the tranquility of the ancestral temple of Zen Buddhism.
