Zhengzhou Dahecun Ruins Museum Holds Cultural Activities Themed by “Celebrating Chinese New Year in the Museum—Golden Pig Brings Happiness”

Zhengzhou Dahecun Ruins Museum will hold a series of cultural activities under the theme of “Celebrating Chinese New Year in the Museum—Golden Pig Brings Happiness” from January 25, 2019 (the 20th day of the 12th lunar month) to April 24, 2019 (the 20th day of the 3rd lunar month). The award-winning comics in the International Comic Contest for Cultural Heritage Protection and the paintings and calligraphy works under the theme of “I love my hometown · volunteer for environmental protection and civilization” by primary and middle school students will make debuts at the museum. On the morning of January 25 (the 20th day of the 12th lunar month), there will also be an activity of writing and sending Spring Festival couplets.

Zhengzhou Dahecun Ruins provide model examples of the Yangshao Culture, Longshan Culture, and Shang Culture in different historical periods. It is one of the famous prehistoric sites in China and ranks in the fifth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level. Activities are arranged as follows:

1. Hold a temporary exhibition (January 25, 2019-April 24, 2019)

① The award-winning comics in “Between the Earth and Heaven Cup”—International Comic Contest for Cultural Heritage Protection will be exhibited. Also, the cultural heritage protection knowledge will be promoted and popularized in the form of a combination of comics and plates.

② The prize-winning works under the theme of “I love my hometown · volunteer for environmental protection and civilization” by primary and middle school students will also be exhibited in the museum to raise public awareness of environmental protection.

2. Writing and sending Spring Festival couplets will be held on January 25. In the morning, we will celebrate the Spring Festival and send pairs of couplets that are believed to carry blessings and good luck. The calligraphers of Zhengdong New District Calligraphers Association will be invited to write couplets and send blessings to the public at the museum. The attendees can receive the Spring Festival couplets for free.

3. Attendees of the activity held on the morning of January 25 will be organized orderly to visit the two temporary exhibitions and the whole exhibition hall to appreciate the charm of Dahecun Ruins, whose unearthed ancient painted potteries have recorded the earliest astronomy information China has ever seen.
