Over 100 Woodblock Prints on Exhibition in Zhengzhou

On the morning of yesterday, famous printmaking artist Dong Xu donated 118 works, which he crafted in the past 50 years, to Henan Art Museum. The donation demonstrates the artist’s deep love and affection to his second hometown Henan.

Dong Xu graduated from the printmaking department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He studied with masters like Li Hua, Gu Yuan, Wang Qi, Huang Yongyu and Jin Shangyi. He once taught in Henan University. Currently, he is a member of the Chinese Artists Association and the Chinese Graphic Art Association. Over the years, Dong Xu has created many works and received many awards including gold, silver and copper awards of the National Exlibris Competitions. He is an influential figure in the printmaking circle of the country. When teaching in Henan University, he made great contribution to the cultivation of printmaking talents.

Currently, more than 100 prints by Dong Xu are on exhibition at Henan Art Museum. Many works were made during his stay in Henan. The exhibition is open to the public until November 19.
