Recitation of Classics, Competition of Poetry in Spring —The Semi-final of 2023 “Liu Yuxi Cup” Poetry Recitation Competition in Xingyang Kicks Off

As the spring breeze blows, all things come back to life. On April 8, the semi-final of the “Liu Yuxi Cup” Poetry Recitation Competition (hereinafter referred to as the “Liu Yuxi Cup”) in Xingyang officially kicked off.

The event was co-sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Xingyang Municipal Committee, Xingyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, Xingyang Municipal Bureau of Education, and Xingyang Convergence Media Center, and undertaken by Xingyang Library and primary and secondary schools in Xingyang.

The “Liu Yuxi Cup” in Xingyang officially started its preliminary round on March 27, targeting primary and middle school students from grades four to eight across the city. A total of 360 ancient and modern poems from the national curriculum were selected as the competition content, and all primary and secondary schools in the city organized their own preliminary rounds to select 200 outstanding players to participate in the semifinals.

The “Liu Yuxi Cup” is a valuable exploration of Xingyang’s commitment to being a “city of culture” and promoting cultural awareness. The goal of this competition is to allow young people to immerse themselves in the blessings of traditional culture, learn and remember the essence of Chinese culture, and strive to become the most beautiful ambassadors of poetic culture through reciting masterful poetry.

Next, the Xingyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports will continue to organize a variety of cultural activities and themed festivals based on poetry, songwriting, traditional Chinese studies, and other areas, using libraries and urban bookhouses as platforms. The goal is to extend the appeal of traditional culture to more people and contribute to the enhancement of Xingyang’s cultural soft power.
