One-day Trip of Baima Temple and Longmen Grottoes of Luoyang

After breakfast, we will start our one-day trip of Luoyang, an imperial capital dating back to thousands of years. At 8:00 in the morning, we will leave for Longmen Grottoes by bus. Located 13 kilometers away from Luoyang City (a drive of 2 hours), it is called the Three Greatest Treasure House of ancient Chinese Buddhism grotto art along with the Dunhuang Grottoes in Gansu and the Yungang Grottoes in Datong Shanxi. As the first world cultural heritage in Henan Province, it is listed among the first batch of important heritage sites under the state protection, and the first batch of 5A tourist attractions. Upon arrival, tourists will visit Fengxian Temple, Myriad Buddha Cave and Three Caves of Binyang, as well as the mysterious Vairocana Buddha, Xiangshan Temple and Bai’s Park under the guidance of tour guides. Standing in front of the various artistic sculptures, you will feel that every scene appears to be vivid, true-to-life, impressive and inspirational. Everything makes you reluctant to leave. The perfect art and the time-honored culture will be all shown in a vivid way. After lunch, we will leave for Baima Temple, the first temple of ancient China (about 1-hour driving). The temple is called “Buddhist Ancestral Chamber” in Buddhist circle, and there are stories about 10 historic figures and events in Baima Temple. Facing Mangshan Mountain in the north and adjoining Luoshui River in the south, the trees-crowded temple towers splendidly in tranquility. Last, we will spend about 30 minutes in visiting tri-colored glazed pottery of the Tang Dynasty, an aesthetic pottery in Luoyang. We will take bus back to Zhengzhou at the end of the trip.
