Songshan Scenic Zone

Songshan Scenic Zone is located in the city of Dengfeng, Henan Province, 74 kilometers west to Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, and 77km east to Luoyang-the ancient capital of nine dynasties. As akey National Scenic Spot, Songshan is one of the first batch of UNESCO Geoparks and National Parks. Songshan Scenic Zone spreads over a 149.4 square-kilometre circle, containing three scenic spots(Shaolin scenic area, Songyang scenic area and Zhongyue scenic area ). Songshan is the origin of many other mountains and is considered to be the central sacred mountain of China. Within its 8000 years' cultural period,Buddhism,Taoism and Confucianism are in harmony with each other. Songshan is regarded as the center of heaven and earth, the integration of Buddhism and Taoism, and the combination of literature and kung fu. Songshan can well boast of its numerous scenic spots and historical relics,including:Three Gate Towers In The Han Dynasty -- the oldest ritual architecture of China,Shaolin Temple -- the cradle land of Zen Buddhism, Zhongyue Temple -- the source region of the Taoist, Songyang Academy -- one of Four Great Colleges of ancient China, Songyue Pagoda -- the oldest pagoda in China, the Dengfeng Observatory -- the oldest and the most intact ancient astronomical architecture. "The Centre of Heaven and Earth", the historic monuments of Dengfeng,wao listed as the world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2010. As a wonderful tourism area, Songshan Scenic Zone expects and welcomes people all over the world with its rich tourism resources of natural sceneries and cultural heritages.
