Shaolin Temple was established in A.D.495,which was the 19th ruling year of Emperor Xiaowen in the Northern Wei Dynasty.The purpose of the emperor to build this temple was to help Indian master Batuo(Buddhabhadra) to spread Buddhism. The temple was named Shaolin Temple because it was built among the forest in MT.Shaoshi.
