Red Tour Routes in Zhengzhou Recommended for the Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Communist Party of China
This year marks the centenary of the Communist Party of China. The party's centenary falls on July 1. Let's follow six red tour routes in Zhengzhou and bask in the glory of the revolution.
Red tour route 1:
Zhengzhou February 7 Strike Memorial Tower — February 7 Strike Memorial Hall — Former Site of Zhengzhou Railway Workers' School — Central Plains Martyrs Memorial Hall — Zhengzhou Bishagang Memorial Site for Fallen Soldiers of the Northern Expeditionary Army
First stop: Zhengzhou February 7 Strike Memorial Tower
63-meter-high, 14-story Zhengzhou February 7 Strike Memorial Tower, built in 1971, sits in Zhengzhou's February 7 Square. It is an architecturally unique, ancient-style conjoined twin tower. Zhengzhou February 7 Strike Memorial Tower was built to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives during the Beijing-Hankou Railway Workers' Strike and to carry forward the revolutionary tradition.
Second stop: Zhengzhou February 7 Strike Memorial Hall
Zhengzhou February 7 Strike Memorial Hall, at 82 Qiantang Road Middle Section, Zhengzhou, is where the Beijing-Hankou Railway Federation of Trade Unions was established. On February 1, 1923, the workers constructing the Beijing-Hankou Railway held the inaugural meeting of the Beijing-Hankou Railway Federation of Trade Unions and went on a general strike on February 4, 1923.
Third stop: Former Site of Zhengzhou Railway Workers' School
Zhengzhou Railway Workers' School was located in today's Tianrong Garment Mall, Guancheng District, Zhengzhou. It's a brick-timber bungalow with a south-facing front, a north-facing back, and a rising ridge. Zhengzhou Railway Workers' School was founded in 1920. It was the CPC's earliest site in Henan for organizing and enlightening workers, forming revolutionary groups, and fomenting revolution.
Fourth stop: Central Plains Martyrs Memorial Hall
Central Plains Martyrs Memorial Hall is located at 11 Danqing Road, Zhengzhou. Henan, as a cradle of Chinese civilization and a base for the Chinese revolution, is the birthplace of numerous people with lofty ideals and revolutionary heroes. The large numbers of photos and cultural relics housed here speak to the hardships the Communist Party of China experienced and the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in the Central Plains.
Fifth stop: Zhengzhou Bishagang Memorial Site for Fallen Soldiers of the Northern Expeditionary Army
Bishagang Park, at 31 Jianshe East Road, Erqi District, is the oldest park in Zhengzhou. Here, the Monument to the Fallen Soldiers of the Northern Expedition Army stands out as an iconic architectural relic. The 10 golden characters inscribed by Marshal Nie Rongzhen on the front in 1991 read, "Long Live the Fallen Soldiers of the Northern Expeditionary Army". Bishagang Park is also China's best-preserved memorial park under the theme of the Northern Expedition.
