Chinese Pay Homage to Xuanyuan, the Yellow Emperor! The Worship Ceremony for the Yellow Emperor in 2021 is Held

"On the third day of the third lunar month, people pay homage to Xuanyuan, the Yellow Emperor." Today is the third day of the third lunar month. The Worship Ceremony for the Yellow Emperor in 2021 is held at the hometown of the Yellow Emperor in Xinzheng City, Henan Province. Chinese both at home and overseas pay homage to the Yellow Emperor, the ancestor of humanity, through on-site and online worship ways, praying for prosperity of the Chinese nation and well-being of the people of the world.

The Ancestor Worship Ceremony in Yellow Emperor Hometown is co-hosted by the People's Government of Henan Province, Henan Provincial Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council PRC, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, and Association for Yan Huang Culture of China, and undertaken by Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government and Zhengzhou Municipal Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

The ceremony's theme is "To Pursue Peace, Amity and Harmony with the Same Root and Ancestor". It is reported that the ceremony contains nine items on its agenda, namely, golden age ritual music, presenting flower baskets, washing hands and offering incense, making bows, reciting elegiac address, singing carols, performing music and dance for worship, praying for China, and wishing for harmonious Heaven, Earth and People. Mr. Qi Xuchun, vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, presided over the ceremony.

With the warm wind blowing, and pines and cypresses thriving, flags were fluttering around Xinzheng City, the hometown of the Yellow Emperor. The statue of the Yellow Emperor on the Ancestor Worship Square was solemn and majestic.

At 9:15, the 2021 ancestral worship ceremony in the hometown of the Yellow Emperor was officially kicked off.

While the ritual music was played, the youth representatives performed the "Three Tributes" ritual and presented grains, fruits and vegetables, and clothes, displaying the rituals of traditional worship ceremonies. The first ritual, "Golden Age Salute" which originally would fire salute guns was replaced by "Golden Age Ritual Music", making the whole ceremony more elegant. The ritual music was played by a band composed of the Ancient Chinese Orchestra from Henan Museum, the symphony orchestra and the folk orchestra from Zhengzhou Sias University.

With the solemn music, in the second part of the ceremony "laying the flower baskets", the national leaders, the main leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Henan Provincial Committee and the provincial government, the leaders of the organizers and contractors of the ceremony as well as representatives of the outstanding Chinese youth and adolescents and children, in turn, presented the flower baskets to the statue of the Yellow Emperor, which symbolizes the high respect to the ancestor of Chinese civilization and humanistic ancestor.

Bells and chimes were resonating together; the ancient music could be heard everywhere. Representatives from all sectors of society all over the country offered incense to the statue after washing their hands. The spiraling incense smokes danced in the air, presenting the devotion and reverence to the ancestor of Chinese sons and daughters around the world.

The whole audience performed the ritual of worship and bowed three times to the statue of the Yellow Emperor, expressing infinite respect of the descendants for the founder of Chinese civilization.

"The sky was black and the earth was yellow; the universe was vast and a dark whole. The Chinese nation has a long history, and the Chinese culture has a deep root. He enlightened the ignorance; he created the civilization. Our great ancestor is of great virtue and grace." Qi Xuchun, vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, read the ancestor worship ode to the audience. Chinese people overseas, or in Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan read the ancestor worship ode online at the same time.

"The sky was black and the earth was yellow..." With the leading vocals of famous singers Cai Guoqing and Lyu Wei, the audience sang "Ode to Yellow Emperor". On the TV screen, there were scenes where people "sang the ode" no matter they were on the site, in a foreign land, or in Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan of China. The solemn and melodious song expressed the hearts of hundreds of millions of Chinese people and moved all descendants of the Yellow Emperor on the spot.

To the rhythmic, elegant and solemn ancient music, the beautifully-dressed-up dancers danced with bamboo sketches in hand, celebrating the birthday of the Yellow Emperor with a brand new choreography, which expressed the common wishes of all the sons and daughters of the Yellow Emperor with their charming dance.

After the music and dance, a short film with the theme of "Passing on the Chinese Culture" was played. Nine outstanding representatives from the old revolutionary base areas, education bases promoting revolutionary traditions in Henan Province, and advanced organizations and individuals honored by the state in Henan Province held torches and lit them at the eternal flame to pray for the prosperity of the nation, the development of the country and the peace of the whole world!

Finally, children from Xinzheng released balloons in front of the ancestor worship platform, and the whole venue was abuzz with drums and music, fireworks, flying doves and colorful balls.

In the solemn and peaceful atmosphere, the Worship Ceremony for the Yellow Emperor in 2021 in the hometown of the Yellow Emperor was successfully held!

Since 2005, Zhengzhou TV Station has joined hands with nearly 50 Chinese media at home and abroad to broadcast the ceremony at the Yellow Emperor's hometown, forming an international league of ceremony broadcast. This year, a transparent live broadcast room decorated with Chinese-style elements of ancestor worship theme was set up at the southeast corner of the ceremony venue, supported by China Mobile's advanced 5G transmission technology to broadcast the ceremony to the whole world in 5G distribution of audio and video. In this international ceremony broadcast, Yan Tiecheng, a well-known cultural scholar, Chen Lei, the chief director of the 2021 Henan Provincial Spring Festival Gala, and Zhao Enmin, a master artist in China's arts & crafts and director of the Institute of Clay Sculpture Art, were invited to attend the grand ceremony and analyze the Yellow Emperor culture together.

The media such as 3cw Chinese Radio Australia, Voice of the Strait and General Radio of Hohhot Broadcasting and Television came to the spot to broadcast the ceremony live. Channel 33 New Zealand, RTHK Putonghua channel, China Huayi Broadcast Corporation and other well-known Chinese broadcast media at home and abroad fully reported the ceremony.
